I bought a new T3 varmint, they say the barrel is floated already but in spots it seems a bit snug. Not likely anything to worry about but it got me thinking about how to float it if that time ever came.
So, what is the process of floating a synthetic stock?

Thanks, I never tried Google, and my dial up prevents me from doing a search on the forum, it tends to "time-out" on me before it gets any results.
I either need high speed or better way of finding old answers to a new question.

One of the reasons the factories bed a pressure point in their cheaper synthetic stocks is because the stocks flex so much it is easier just to tighten the screws and bend it all together...

Floating simply means removing material under and beside the barrel... testing as you go so in the end you have clearance but evenly from side to side. Do not start removing on the top edge and work down... it is best done the opposite way... remove underneath and work up... it will look better when completed...

Is this "pressure point" something I am likely to encounter in a new Tikka Varmint?
