Barrel for Remmington 7600

Hey Guys

I was wondering if any one knows if and were one could get a 22" barrel for the 7600 I have the carbine version(18.5") and would like to switch to the longer barrel for a bit better performance.

BadBrutus, I see that you just joined us. I suggest you read a bit around the various forums and get a feel for how things work here. You will find that anybody who Btt's their own thread in less than 24 hours does not make a lot of friends.

The advice you got from SuperCub is about as good as you will get here. And in general, your carbine is worth more money than a 7600 with the 22" barrel. So you might end up with MORE money, instead of paying about $300 for a longer barrel and the gunsmith work to swap barrels.

So you probably have a 7600 carbine in .30-06. I will swap you a 760 in .30-06, with a 22" barrel, and I will add fifty bucks, for your carbine. (assuming VG condition etc etc) Or you can spend $300 to get your barrel swapped.

Yes Mark I think there is a difference. Thanking a guy for advice is good manners. Putting your post to the top of the page because it is obviously more important than anybody else's post is not good manners. That's my world view, anyways.

7600 Barrel Swap

It is generally hard to find an extra barrel but not hard to change barrels. 760 barrels interchange with 760's and 7600's with 7600's and not vice versa. As long as you stay with the same head size 243/25-06/270/308/30-06/358/35 Whelen, you can have one rifle with switchable barrels in different calibres. I have a 308 760 with both carbine and rifle barrels. GunpartsCorp.com in NY usually has used barrels but the importing/exporting legally makes it prohibitive. You should be able to swap a carbine barrel for a rifle barrel on the EE- the carbine barrels are rarer.
