Barrel/hand guard length question

Are you using the standard A2 sight? Or are you goin with flip up BUIS? As for function it all depends on what you wanna put on it. Same thing for looks depends what you want it to look like, build it the way you like it id say. If you look through one of my older threads I have a couple AR shortys.
Because most barrels have a carbine gassystem (gas port is 7in from the chamber) a 9in rail will hide all your gas tube and leave someof the gas block depending on your block and let a couple inchs of barrel out. Hope that helps all thebest. Msg me if you want any help!

Naturally if you use an A2 front sight you have to use a 7” rail (although some rails have a cut out), but as you stated you are using a low profile gas block. Thus a 9” rail is pretty much the “correct” length.

You can fit a 12” rail over a 12.5” barrel and you will get just the muzzle device sticking out the end, that’s kinda the only other option.

If your gas block is 1” long, most are now, a 9” rail will cover the gas block and gas system on a carbine length gas port, which an 11.5” or 12.5” barrel will have.

9 inch rail with 11.5 inch bbl is a nice set up covers the gas block and gives a nice arms length for most people, allow for a rail system with out adding to much weigh
if you are still in need we have a bunch of 10.5 ,11.5 and14.5 bbls , as well as gas blocks just shipped out to a bunch of our dealers

I am thinking of either an 11.5 or 12.5 barrel for an AR build
Would a 9" rail function well and look correct?
Does anyone have pics of such a set up? Cheers

12" handguard works on a 12.5" barrel, too. I thought it looked dumb when I first got it but it grew on me. If you grip all the way out on the handguard, it allows you to get your hand out farther than on 9" handguard.

I put a 12 inch rail on my 10.5 and a linear comp. The comp sticks out a little past the rail. I really like the setup.
