Barrel Lenght

I am just wondering if anybody has changed there barrell lenght on a 300 WSM? Longer or shorter. If so, how did it effect the proformance of the gun?

Adding or subtracting barrel length usually relates to about 20 FPS per inch or so, but it's certainly not an exact science.

My experience has with faster rounds about 50fps/inch and 25fps/inch for slower rounds like 30-30/45-70.

Ruger Frontiers came in .300WSM and they had a 16.5" barrel. Still likely perform well, but a little loud...

Initially one of the proposed advantages of the WSM/WSSM round was to produce higher velocities with less barrel length, a result of a more efficient burn rate.
