Barrel Length...18.5" or 20"

I will soon be purchasing a new toy and wanted opinions on what barrel length would be good for my shottie. I will be using it for 3 gun competitions as well as hunting (Grouse and Rabbit) and was trying to figure out what would be best for both uses.

The only thing swaying me right now is that the 20" goes for better accuracy and on the firearm I'm looking at has a bigger shell cap.

18.5 ,But only because I have a Ithaca 37 and a fixed mag of only 4rds

I don't see my self shooting a flying grouse or running rabbit with a 14 inch barrel.....I wish I was that accurate.

how bout the Norc 870 clone..you can get it in 14 inch and get an 18.5 barrel as well. Or a rem 870 with a couple of different barrels. More choices.

Reason I'm going with a Mossberg is....reliability (I already have one and it works great) and price.

The Norc ($345.00) costs more than the Persuader ($259.00) and has less shell cap...therefore I would have to purchase an extended mag for the Norc.

Great input so far, but to narrow it down.....I have already settled on the Mossberg....I just haven't decided on the barrel length.

Go for a 20"!!

I have a Mossberg 590A1 with an 18.5, and it only holds five 2 3/4" shells, wish it held more. The 20" holds eight rounds, way more fun. Either way, it an awesome gun I would reccomend to anyone!
