Barrel length & feet per second?

that would be pretty hard to answer, different powders burn at slightly different rates, what calliber etc etc, so your question is very very broad, how ever, i woundnt expect to see to much more out of it to be honest,
 
That would depend on the pressure curve of the powder. If there's still plenty of pressure in the 5 inch barrel when the bullet passes the 4 inch mark, you'll get more velocity out of a 5 inch barrel. If most of the powder had burnt and the pressure curve peak is long gone at the 4 inch mark, you're not likely to get much more velocity from a 5 inch barrel than a 4 inch. As for the actual math on how to figure it out....man, are you looking at the wrong guy. I understand the concept of what you're asking, but other than testing your setup with a chroney and 2 different guns, I can't tell you how to figure it out.
 
Regarding what Denny was saying about pressure curve, a good example is the 22 rimfire rifle. They tell us peak velocity, with long rifle ammunition, is reached in an 18 inch barrel.
With revolvers the distance between the cylinder and the forcing cone has more to do with velcity than does the barrel length, within reason, like between 4 and 5, or even 4 and 6.
A revolver loses a lot of power through that gap in front of the cylinder. I thought my 22 revolver with 6 inch barrel had a tight gap, but it would not shoot a long rifle edgewise through a spruce 2x4, and a fellow's 5 inch auto loading would, with the same ammo.
