Barrel length for 45/70

Perfect - and same here, I have the new Marlin with the short 16.5" barrel, havent lost much from 18.5" GG........ its negligable, came with Skinner Peep sight and shoots just as accurate as my GG with the same 405gr loads, cloverleafs.........

Ditto on the new Marlin Trapper... got one myself, it is a beaut of a gun, light, handy, accurate. Those Skinner sights are fast, this is easily one of my best handling rifles.

Went with a 22", liked the feel of it over the 18.5". May have to take a closer look at one of those trapper models though!
