if you have an adjustable stock like on the stag 3r what is the shortest barrel you can put on it? can you use a 14.5 inch or 11.5 inch, or does this make it prohib? i'm total no-nothing about these types of rifles, but am thinking someday about the stag3R from Arms East. not that i would neccesarily want a shorter barrel, i just see on various sights that there is quite a few different configurations.

thanks for your help, i'll need alot of it if i fall off the wagon and get one of those bad mofo's one day.

Overall length regs do not apply to restricted arms. You can take the stock off and run a 7.5" barrel on an AR if you want.

When I re-registered my PS90 going from the 16" barrel to the 10.3" barrel, it dropped the OAL from 26.4" to 20.5".

The CFC said because the OAL was dropped to under 26", I had to fax a copy of the invoice showing the barrel was purchased as a 10", not hacksawed by myself.

Crazy.

4.5" is the smallest that I have built
looking at 458SOCOM???

:beerchug:

I take it that for home defense (close range) the damage to the perp will be mostly due to 3rd degree burns, that's if you don't just fry him by setting him on fire altogether.

5.5" 5.56NATO built for DND testing of suppressors for PDW project
without can very very loud
had to stop testing because the mag followers where melting and
the front of the upper and lower started to change colour...hot
please remember 5.56 NATO is about 2.250" long only 3.250" of rifling

Perhaps an 'under the barrel' flammable liquid dispenser is in order, complete with variable settings .... mist, spray and gush. :D

Pity about the carpet, though.

I was contemplating 14.5 again, but many people have been telling me to get a 16" barreled AR. Better results on the chrony and for Zombies.......:ar15:

Seriously though, just trying to decide on an Armalite, or a Stag. Decisions, decisions....
.......I've all but given up on the RObinson XCR = the Unicorn of AR variant rifles.:(

i know, i am getting carried away with the smilies......there like crack...:puke:

But keep in mind, that applies to mid-length gas systems, if you get a 16" with carbine gas system then you gain velocity and not the better operation (as in easier on bolt and smoother cycling) of the mid-length

Whats wrong with the 14.5???

The shorter the gas system, the bigger the stress on the bolt and increases the odds of cycling problems. The 16" mid-length has been quoted as a very good compromise between a full size rifle and a carbine. The 14.5" is good but because of the carbine gas system it is harder on the bolt, but it is a reliable setup.
