Barrel length questions

Go as long as you can. You can always cut it back. Slower burning powders (better fill of the casing) will need a longer barrel. Take a quick read on Lilja's site.

Cutting the barrel shorter will stiffen it up but you will lose velocity and down range energy.

my question is the barrel is comeing in a 28" length is this good for a 300Win Mag in a 1-10 twist or should i have it shortened to 26" if i stick with a brake added it will put the barrel length at roughly 30"

Sign... Is the barrel blank going to finish at 28 inches, or is the blank "coming in" as 28 inches? If the blank is 28" then it will like finish near 26.5 inches.
