barrel length?

I may trade for a ruger m77 in 270 win, it has a 20" barrel, most barrels are 22", a loss of 2" barrel length in a 270 would not be a issue? I don't think it would matter

In my experience with the .280 you will probably lose 50ish fps over the 22", muzzle blast will also be increased. Their are lots of variables though, generally the powder burt/bore size ratio of the .270 benifits from a 22" or 24" barrel. Nothing wrong with a 20" though.
