Barrel maker turn around time

i emailed PAcnor a few weeks ago and they will ship barrel blanks up to 2 at a time was my response to your home address. No threading or short chambering else it becomes one of those do you have an import/export permit.

Not to ruin anyone's fancy but if you are planning on building something custom, expect to plan for a reasonable waiting period as part of the build just for the necessary components to arrive. It is not like shopping at a Walmart where you can just go into the store and grap what you want off the shelf. Like it was mentioned above, the Canadian market is way to small to stock everything. How many guys will build 2 or even 3 of the same gun at the same time? I'll bet not too many.

Many times stuff gets stuck at the Canada customs end of the world. Had a laminate blank sit there for 5 weeks one time.

A lot of us fellas up here deal through Paul at Rangesports in Kamloops.
He has McPhee and Smith barrels.
The last time a falling block got shipped to him, turnaround was 2 months from shipping to back in his hands, and that is with some extra action work,a custom scope rail and a Smith barrel on it!:dancingbanana:
Shoots like a custom barrel should as well!:D

To answer the question about the barrel makers doing gunsmithing, I know Ted Gaillard does, I sent him a stainless Rem 700 in 300 WM in Aug. he removed the barrel and accurized the action (trued, blueprinted and all that), worked the trigger, made and installed on of his fluted barrels in 338 Ultra mag, worked on the mag box to make it feed smoothly and bedded it. He received the rifle in August and it was ready in the beggining of december but to be fair he had just finnished his run of 338 barrels and I put the project on hold a couple times so we could discuss stuff, I'm sure that if I would of called knowing exactly what I wanted he would of been done alot sooner, but it's nice to be able to discuss your options with him, i'm already thinking about what i'm going to get him to build next. Speaking of which i'll post in the sporting arms forum to get your opinion on my next project.

Not trying to hijack this thread but while we're talking about these guys. Do they do any gunsmithing or is it just barrel making?
I want to send my 700 out and have the action blueprinted or trued and have a barrel made for it(how long would that take?). I already have a stock on its way.
thanks.
Bevan King can do some of the gunsmithing, check with him for what he will do. But no stock fitting for sure.
