The Sudbury shooting and vintage motorcycle community lost a good friend just over a month ago. A true Renaissance man, he started making barrels a few years back as well a boring shot-out 30/30's to 38/55. The machine was started by a retired Inco machinist, and then completed and improved by my chum. It's a very impressive beast, and very loud when all three motors are running. One each for turning the chuck, feeding the drill bit, and pumping oil through the bit. It will be expensive to purchase (most likely), but still a bargain considering the cost of tooling and sharpening equipment.
Around the turn of the century, a gunsmith had an extra long lathe bed cast for (I believe) a South Bend lathe. My chum went along with the deal and bought one as well. He made it up into a lathe long enough to handle barreled actions, yet it isn't monstrously long and heavy like most lathes with this capacity. There is a great deal of extra tooling as well. If there is any serious interest, pl. let me know and I can connect you with his wife.
There is a large milling machine available as well.
