I need to replace my original barrel for my Norinco 1911a1c (commander).. Any opinions on brands or what direction I should go? and whats the ballpark for a gunsmith to fit it?

Right now its a 300 dollar paper weight, so I want to fix it...the Slide is alittle loose if it isnt greased and it was a decent shooter prior to breakdown.

What happened to the gun? Curious minds want to know... I just picked one of the Commanders up, just awaiting CFO Wyatt's permission slip...

Cheers
Jay

I had Dlask fit a bull barrel on one of my pistols.Shipping both ways, the cost of the barrel and fitting put it around 325.00 if i recall correctly.A fitted standard barrel and bushing was going to cost about same.I think just a barrel will run about 100.00 or so,so if your inclined to take this on yourself and treat it as a learning experience that might be the way to go, considering the value of a used norinco.

any non ramped 4.25" 1911 barrel can be installed, some are better than others. CRAFM or Freedom Ventures can set you up with a quality replacement barrel from Infinity or STI.

umm a 300 dollar STI/SVI bbl might be a bit overkill for a $300 pistol...

very curious though as to what happened to the original
