Has anybody ever had a revolver's barrel shortened by a gunsmith here? I'm curious. I've been looking at getting some older revolvers, but I very much like the shorter 4"-ish barrels that are "Canadian" like S&W has been shipping with recent 686 models. Has anybody here ever had it done, or seen a gun with it done? I'm a bit worried it might end up being butchered. I know guns with full underlugs would probably be a no-go.
I'm mostly thinking about having a 6" S&W Model 28 cut down to 4.5". In particular, gunsmith referrals would be appreciated.
