Barrel removal for muzzle brake threading

Hey guys just wondering what is involved for removing the barrel on my R-25? I want to get it threaded for a muzzle brake. It has a free-float tube which obviously has to come off but not sure where to go from there. When you go to re-install it do you have to headspace it or just thread it back in to the upper reciever?

Assuming the R-15 is like any other AR based design:
Unscrew handguard.
Remove gas tube. Maybe just the tube, or the gas block assembly with tube, depending on how it is set up.
Unscrew barrel nut, remove barrel.
Set up on lathe, thread barrel and fit the brake.
Reassemble in reverse order.
Proper tools will be needed.
 
Its not that difficult. You will need blocks to hold the barrel, and a wrench to fit the barrel nut. I don't know if the gas block is clamped or pinned to the barrel. If it is pinned, it would likely be easier to remove the gas tube. If clamped, just pull the whole unit.
I would mark the port in the barrel nut through which the gas tube passes, and tighten the barrel nut sufficiently on reassembly to allow the tube to pass through the same notch.
 
You need to pay attention to those screws - if you don't loctitie them properly in reassembling, the gas block might shift.
 
If you don't want to move the gasblock, look for the crosspin that secures the gas tube. Tap it out, remove the gas tube.
