barrel selection for slugs

I have a Maverick 88 that has the 28" Field barrel. I plan to do some deer hunting with it this fall and want to know if i should get a different barrel. Mossberg has a 24" rifled barrel and a 18.5" smoothbore barrel that I can get. The 24" has adjustible sights as well, and the 18.5 only has a front beed.

I wonder if I should just buy another shot gun instead of a barrel. I can get the Mossberg 500 combo from SIR for $250, a barrel is $150 by itself.

Your 28" barrel will work fine but I'd get the 18.5" as well, it's nice having a shorter barrel for your shotgun.
