Barrel shroud style mock suppressor for the ar 15 ??

Ok, so here's what I did, I took an airsoft silencer, gutted it put a straight steel tube through it and welded it in place with the putter housing of the airsoft silencer on the outside and an end cap on the front. Anyone see any issues legal or safety wise? My understanding of how silencers work is that as long as there is no way for the escaping gasses to be dissipated into a chamber in the silencer then it should be nothing more than a barrel shroud/extension and would not dampen the sound of the shot. Am I mistaken?
Is there anywhere where I could test my DIY can to make sure there is no actual noise reduction ?

The law is up to the interpretation of the one enforcing it. You've added something to the end in front of the barrel and although it might not do anything, someone enforcing a law may decide to interpret the law as ANYTHING added in front of the barrel.

Its not really as simple as that. In some ways the law is really vague but in other ways it is fairly specific. A muzzle device needs to be "designed or intended" to reduce the noise of a shot. If asked and you reply that the thing is intended as a fake to not produce any sound reduction then thats what it is. The RCMP have added a caveat to that which limits unintended sound reduction to 3 dB.

Some pics of my prototype design. This is meant to replicate the appearance of the KAC QDSS-NT4 suppressor issued by USSOCOM

The tube is made of a straight steel tube which is threaded into the QD attachment point that is meant to fit into A2 style flash hiders. This is meant only as an aethetic accessory and is not intended to, in anyway alter the sound of the firearm.

Thanks guys, I have seen fake 'suppresors' such as the one linked in the previous post but I was after a specific 'look'. I wanted to make one that replicated the look of the suppressor used by the SEAL teams to complete the look of my DD Mk18 which is why I decided to build this. Since those pictures were taken I have redone the inner tube in aircraft grade aluminum to cut down on the weight of the can.
I will try and take a video of it in action one of these days.

Anyone know where to find a fake suppressor for a 18.5" CZ858? I saw one in the picture thread, but the OP never designated what can it was.

You can order a similar one from Questar for $60 plus shipping. The types they carry is "Spike's Tactical" with logo or without one. Questar will request 10% deposit & will ship the fake can when they have it in stock which could be anywhere between two weeks to a month or so. If you do plan to order make sure you have the right thread. If u are not familiar with it, I will attach a youtube where someone else posted the same product. The one thing you may have to be aware of is that once you put the barrel shroud on, you won't have the flash hider, which will result in a muzzle flash with each shot & a bit louder.

Yes I certainly have seen those, including one licenced by Gemtech (an actual manufacturer of the real thing). So why didn't I just go out and buy one of these?

a) I was after an aesthetic replication of a particular model and wanted to replicate it as closely as I could while staying within the legal stipulations of the law.

b) All the fake suppressor a I have seen seem to be meant for use on .22LR and not sure how they would hold up when a 5.56/.223 round was shot through it. (This one in the video is being attached to the MP15; a .22LR)

c) did not want to have to remove the existing flash hider.

d) But truthfully it all ultimately came down to me needing a fake can to complete my clone build up or the Mk18
Mod 1 used by DEVGRU.
