Easy bubba don’t put words like that in my mouth. Haha anyway no I use min wax paste finishing wax. Really good stuff for any wood object, comes in a yellow 450gram tin for about 20 dollars. Easy to apply, doesn’t build up, easy to buff to a beautiful soft finish. Even with a lot of handling it lasts a long time, also easy to remove with mineral spirits if needed. I use it on all the stuff I make, wood furniture, anything I turn, self bows and laminates, even good on toboggans, good stuff. Its Frank’s red hot but for wood to me. Scoop a little nug out and put it in the end of sock, tie it off above the wax and cut off excess, you’ll have a man bun looking thing that slowly oozes wax as you buff it on. Keep it in a bag and it won’t dry out, nice mess free applicator. Looked at the msds for birchwood Casey, it’s 85% mineral spirits, 9% paraffin, 3% silicone and 3% carnauba wax. Min wax is 75 mineral spirits and 25% paraffin, birchwood is $16 for 90 grams vs min wax is 20 for 450 grams. Paying a lot extra for nothing. If paying that much get something good like renaissance wax. I avoid anything with silicone in it too, It can ruin a finish and is very hard to remove if you want to touch up the finish or apply something else. Sounds on par with the low quality of their tru oil, cold blue line up. God don’t get me started on tru oil,

That’s what I’d do, you’re not going to have any issues if you wax and buff it and wipe it with a oily rag after you take it out. Dry it and oil it when not in use and you should be fine.
Everyone always says the matte blue 870’s will rust if you look at them the wrong way, maybe they will if you don’t do the hare minimum to protect them lol. I’ve tried to get mine to rust and it won’t, I’ve been out in the rain. I literally stored it in a soft bag for 2 years and it wouldn’t rust, the only thing I did was prop it up by the wood stove if it got wet and once dry I wiped it with an oily rag.
I’ve seasoned any matte finished or parkerized guns with grease and had good results with that as well, the matte finish holds the grease or oil in the rougher texture of the finish and keeps moisture at bay.
