Barrel temp

Interesting but not sure if they are approaching the problem the correct way.

The goal is to track how the barrel reacts as it heats up from shooting. If you are going to be in very hot ambient conditions, then by all means bring the gear to anticipated ambient.

But this does not simulate how a barrel might work as it heats up from firing.

The only way to do that is to shoot the barrel and track where the bullets land. Here an infra red temp gauge can be useful.

You are heating from the bore side out. Not the other way around.

I guess I was more concerned with how hot before the barrel is damaged rather then how to compensate for a hot barrel when shooting. If I bring my temp gun with me at what temp do I have t stop shooting and wait for cool down before I harm the barrel
