Barrel weight for 686?

Does anyone have any info or contacts for a stainless barrel weight for a S&W 686? A friend has one for his blued 586 which slides over the full underlug and is held by 2 set screws and I'd like to find the same in stainless for mine. We can't find a manufacturer's name on it so I thought I'd ask here.

I needed the same barrel weight you are talking about a while back as well !!
I just posted a "want to buy " in the parts and bits EE and got several repilies within a day or two and bought one that way !

I think mines a Douglas but there isnt any name on it !

I think they are made by Jarvis. I see them in gun magazine ads.

Bill Jarvis used to make these until about '95, whenn PPC was in a decline.

I don't know of another manufacturer.

Mine is a one off custom made.

I'm also looking for one in stainless, I have a 686 with a blued one. (just don't look right)
How do they put these things on anyway ? I bought my gun with it installed. It has two set screws on the bottom, I take out the screws and it will not budge. Do they use glue when they intall ?

Hey Casper...they fit fairly tight ! Once you loosen the set screws off you will need a rubber mallet to nock it off, if it still doesnt budge or is tight use a brass punch on it so you can tap it off with a hammer !!
