Barrel with rail on top

Would you be able to make a barrel with a rail attached on top, so that the rail would be from the front of the barrel to the point where the rail on the receiver ends? That way there would be a continuous rail section from the tip of the barrel to the end of the receiver. That way you can mount flip up sights, or a red dot on the barrel and it wouldn't affect zero if the barrel was taken off.

Personally, I would be interested in an 8" barrel with a rail and a receiver to go along with it.

Barrel for a 10/22, sorry I should have been more specific. I was thinking something along the lines of an aluminum rail screwed to the top of the barrel.

So is this something that you guys might do in the future. I'm no expert, but I think that all you would have to do is make an aluminum rail and attach it to the barrel.

Something like this but with the rail pointing the other way, and without any gaps.
