Barrel??

outside to outside on the 1 to 8 oclock holes approx 1 5/16" - .264" = 1.05"

For 300m, that is a very nice group. Nice to see a Mauser shooting in the 3's. Hopefully, you can average this level of accuracy.

At this distance, it puts you in some very expensive company. Like the B&L scope too.

Wow! you could tell that is a B&L on my rifle...you have a VG eye. It is a fixed 36X It's taking a while to get use to. I'm used to a 6-24X. I bought the rifle at a nearby gun store (consigned) for $1500.00 tax inc. Figure I got a fair deal. By the way I like your custom rifles.

The rifle was built by Karl Schmitt (K & S arms)
Mauser 98 action 6.5 x 55
Stock C3 Canadian Sniper Stock
Timney trigger
Trued action, glass bedded
Barell is Ron Smith 1 in 8 twist
lead weight in stock. Total weight 20 lbs.

This is the information given to me by the gun store. I repainted it myself. Origional color was a pukey yellow/green that you would see in a 1970 bathroom.

M77, thanks.

You may want to put your load over a chronograph. If you are only using 37gr of Varget in a case as large as a Swede, you are likely not getting the most performance available.

Most of us use H4350 or H4831SC with the 139/140's. I expect to get close to 47/48gr of H4831SC when lit by a CCI BR2 primer.

You should have no issue getting 2900fps. Might tighten the vertical component of your groups too.

This would make a very nice F(O) rig. Shim the scope with Burris rings for longer distances.

I assumed everybody knew it was an old B&L!!??

Actually, the old B&L's were very good scopes, with a high quality finish.
I have owned several 6-24's as well as a 36X.
I love the old school rifle actions like your '98 BTW!

don't listen to Mystick......get a good MOA added base and good rings, and or a scope with over 80MOA in it,Burris rings are pure JUNK!!!(IMHO)

other then that good shooting man everthing else Jerry said is good to go

Jamie you might want to check out Lothar Walther Barrels at Shot 2008 they had a nice lightweight barrel in a heavy profile although it is a composite construction it is not a carbon fibre wrapped POS.The Lothar Walther Barrel is a proprietary metal barrel although not cheap @ $600 .00 a barrel ,It does offer a subtainal wieght saving over a steel 26" Remington PSS barrel and I think its 30% -50% lighter with the same profile.

I dropped the last round a bit.....................

Jamie, you might want to look at the new gen 30mm rings from Burris. Hard for anyone to say these aren't strong, or durable enough to do the job.

When properly installed, the scope simply doesn't slip.
