Karl Schmidt,
perfectionist gunsmith in Edmonton Alberta has been in the barrel making bussiness for a couple of years.
I would expect them to be good based on his previous services, however he has to go through a learning cycle too.
Has anyone tried his barrels yet?
How good/poor you think they are?

Yes they can, but buttoning has a far greater chance of producing inconsistent barrels as a byproduct of that technique. while big makers like Shilen sell their sub-optimal barrels as lesser grades, the local button makers do not. So either they don't sell barrels with dimensional imperfections (I doubt it) or they mix the good with the not-so-good.

Ted Gaillard makes the best buttoned barrels going. He's Canadian and I've never seen a poor Gaillard. He does something right. I would be interested to hear from an established competitive shooter that is shooting these Schmidt barrels. Nice to have choices!.
