Hey guys, I recently got me a parker and hale springfield 1903 remake, with a custom stock. but unfortunatly, the previous owner cut about 4" off the barrel, this makes the gun very inacurrate after about 10-12 shots. at first, the groupings are very good, then after a short while they spread out drastically. would anyone here know where I could pick up a new barrel for it?
I tried searching, but the only information I found was from about 3 years ago. anyone got some updated information?

thanks guys.

Are you referring to a PH Midland rifle? If so, the barrel has a modified M98 Mauser pattern shank. Same diameter and thread pitch, the shank is slightly longer. Most any sporting barrel intended for a Mauser could be adapted. If the rifle is a Midland, the only Springfield association is use of a slightly modified surplus 03A3 bolt.

Pictures would help, but it sounds like your rifle (like any hunting rifle) it opens up (grouping) with continuous shooting when hot. It's not a target rifle.

Sounds like a stock bedding issue... There is a good chance the existing barrel is better than most commercial barrels made today - PH made pretty good barrels when they were in business.
Rebarreling would mean making a 500$ investment in a 300$ gun, and you're going to end up with a 300$ gun.
