Barrels in stock?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to complete my rifle build, and need to get a barrel before my smith closes up shop for the summer (end of April). To this end I'm looking for a barrel in stock at the moment. I'm looking for a 224 with a 1:9 twist, 5 or 6 groove, with a heavy contour. Must have a minimum of a 3" shank.

I've already tried Bighorn, and have messages out to Bob Jury, Jerry at Mystic Precision, and JC Custom.

Where else should I be looking?

You can check with Hirsch precision they might have something more than likely 1-8 though 9 twist isn't as common and for a 3 inch shank unless it is a straight taper it won't be standard most are 2.25 to 2.75" on sporters and palma barrels anyway.

Assuming I want to shoot 80gr or bigger bullets that would be the better way to go, but that is not what I'm after with this build.

I've contacted all the suggestions listed here. Thus far JC and Jury have indicated they can meet my tight timelines. Any other places I should inquire with? I was hoping for Krieger, but might have to settle for another make. Thoughts on JC vs Jury?

You could check with xtreme shooting center in Winnipeg they sometimes have a supply of barrels on hand too.

To follow up on this thread I decided to go with a JC Custom barrel in 223, 1:8, 28" heavy varmint. Thanks to everyone for their help and advice.
