Rick from (I can't mention the company name) said that he had talked to Barrett , and the word was NO.
So Rick was planning on building his own.

I thought we just are not supposed to post direct links that go offsite......

Do you mean we can not use names on this forum anymore?

The 416 Barrett uses the BMG case. Biggest problem with this is primers. Cost is about 25 to 30cents each IF you can get them. My understanding is that because it is a BMG component, the primer is also restricted from export.

Higginson was trying for quite a while to get primers but I don't think any have been approved for export.

The biggest boomer you can actually ignite is the CheyTac/ 505 Gibbs case. This still uses a LR magnum primer. However, when loads reach 150gr, I wonder when that primer is going to get marginal.

I heard that the 416 was only a barrel change away from a .50, and that's why then wouldn't let them in.

The 416 that Barret is developing is pretty custom as well and the numbers on it are hard to find. There were some numbers in the last SOF that reviewed the new rifle, and it's ranging computer. I will post them up when I get home. Article suggests it's allot more accurate round.

Bottom line is don't hold your breath, your better of getting something built up here or getting a Steyr.

I think that there was a bit of commotion at the time he got banned for self promoting himself.
There is someone else completely unrelated that uses the login: atr. For a day or so, even his initials were starred out. ***

Get in touch with Rick. He's a top notch guy and a damned fine rifle builder.
