Barrett 50 cal.

Anything .50 will not come out of the US legally. They are on the "Canada is a terrorist nation so we the USA will not approve any .50's for export list".

"...prohibited by name..." Yep. Prohibited Weapons Order No. 11. Evenif you could get one, they start around $4500US for a single shot bolt action. Their semi-autos start at 9 grand US.
"...Canada is a terrorist nation so..." Restricted for export. Has nothing to do with Canada.

The use of a semi auto 50 is just about zero.
Unless a person is in a war or police action as they called Vietnam, why would you want to spray really expensive ammo from a not so accurate rifle at the range? At about $10.00 per round a not so accurate rifle does not make alot of sense to me.
If we were a civilized country and Ma Dueces were allowed NOTHING is more fun than a full MG shoot, but given our laws, this is not gonna happen.

Plus you would need the acreage to shoot it on (assuming it was non restricted). Because there can't be alot of ranges that would allow it. Even the DND range we shoot at locally gives you a hastle over .300winmag.

I keep hearing that, I guess that's why I don't have a membership to there, despite it being a 30 minute walk out my front door, or 3 minute drive.

I seem to recall someone shooting 50 cal semi-auto at several groundhogs at longish range in Saskatchewan or thereabouts.
(This is my recollection of internet hearsay -- so take that for what it's worth)

I take it that you're not a fan of the "Light Fifty" then :p

I am not a huge fan of any rifle that is only 1/4 minute of truck accurate.
The Berrets are great battle rifles but are certainly not know for stellar accuracy. Given the limited uses for a 50 in the civilian market and the cost of feeding a 50, I would prefer accuracy that is somewhat more refined.
For spray and pray work the 10-22 is still king:D

well if your looking for a semi ...I recommend the AS-50 by accuracy international....way more accurate than the barret......but the only problem is getting it over here in canada...its not on the banned list.......to me that would be the ultimate collectors piece

Seeing him aiming the rifle with the mag missing suggests he is wishful thinking. And given the close proximity of that straw I think he would have a fire on his hands very shortly after a few rounds were fired.

I have a "just cuz" Ma Duece for that very reason, the problem is no place to shoot it in Canuckistan and the fact that I can not export it from the US where it resides and I no longer reside with it.
Last time I took it to Knob Creek I spent well over $4000.00 US on ammo where it is FAR less spendy that 50 cal ammo is up here.
