Hey guys,

Since I've been derailing mebiuspower's HS50 thread I thought I would start one regarding my m99.

First question - does anyone know if an adapter exists to put a normal harris or atlas bipod on one of these? The factory bipod cant is less than stellar.

This thing is pretty sweet though. 472gr cutting edge mtac projectiles at 3082fps! Currently loading them with H50BMG powder. Makes my 338LM's seem like a joke.

140gr berger and 6.5x55 brass on the left, 300gr berger and 338LM brass in the middle, the 416 on the right.

How is the recoil compare to 338?

Recoil isn't bad, but the concussion off of the brake is something else. I'm trying to source a different brake for it to see how that goes. I'd be OK with more recoil but less concussion haha...

I can put 100 rounds in an afternoon through my 338's with no discomfort (granted they both have excellent brakes on them). With the current brake on this I could probably shoot it lots without bruising, but the blast is a bit mind numbing. I'll shoot them back to back next time I'm out to compare.

With a different brake and either a different bipod or some sort of f-class front rest I should be good to go.

Interesting results from shooting in December. Turns out H50BMG seems to be temperature sensitive. My load that was good at -27 C was too hot at -4. I got a couple rounds on target at 1.96km but had to stop shooting due to pretty serious pressure signs. Shooting a 472gr projectile beyond 3000fps is unreal! I am backing off the powder charge and loaded some rounds yesterday. This thing is a ####ing laser. Knocked over my steel plate at 800m.

I had to take the factory bipod off. If you are not shooting off of level ground it is horrible. It cants but doesn't hold in place (so the shooter has to make a conscious effort to hold the rifle on target). I picked up an inexpensive front rest and it made all the difference in the world. So much better to shoot.

Also, ordered one of these from wolverine:

Should reduce the concussion back to the shooter.

Well, I got the old brake off without too much hassle. I have the new one mocked up on the rifle and it looks sweet!

Still a pretty massive brake haha...

Do they make that brake for a .50 as well? I love my Barrett 99, but there is a lot of blast!

I had this out today. The m107a1 brake is AWESOME. No more headaches shooting this rifle. It recoils less than my 338 mrad. Concussion back to the shooter is gone entirely. Worth every penny.

My loads are still too hot though. I'll have to back them off further. Anyone who is willing to share load data shoot me a pm or post here. I'm shooting the cutting edge 472gr projectiles over h50bmg.
