Barrett REC7 vs. H&K MR223

Actually i miss wrote there, I would sell it for an IAR version with the full auto, but i would keep the barrel profile on it. I herd and read the IAR barrel was slightly lighter, wouldn't want that for full auto burst fire, necessarily but wouldn't really care either way, just being picky.

If you are looking for a tac driver that will not fail then get the MR223, Greentips is selling one, get an enhanced trigger guard and KAC ambi selector switch from OST for her and your good to go. I would run a trijicon Acog of some type with the docter sight on top and call it a day..You will need Emags though for the PMAGS will not fit in the HK magazine housing. Although I have herd the new PMAGS versions have been changed now...rumor can not confirm. Questar and Blaxsun has the EMAGS.

Actually I am not selling my HK MR223 anymore - it has been recalled to active duty and it is being equiped for operation. :D

Yeah i was so surprised know one bought that rifle at the price you were offering her at. That is an AR for serious shooters anyways.
People that complain about the weight are usually just Fanboys/Mall ninjas and have no real grasp of the potential of a rifle like this...

The MR223 is more of a "Battle Carbine" if there was ever a term in the sense it is a little heavier than your average AR but you get some benefits, and really the weight is nothing for the added capability. The rifle is solid and built for durability accuracy and at an extremely high quality level that goes beyond most AR I have seen on the market by a long shot. If you want a gun that does it all and does it at the highest level then look no further...I wouldn't sell mine for anything else.

Thank you. That is the kind of information I wanted. I know there are lots of good quality AR's out there, but I want the most rock solid AR I can find. I will order a H&K. I have a Trijicon TA01 with a Larue QD on my CMMG right now, but I may look for a TA31ECOS. Do the LAR mags work well in the H&K?

I don't have any LAR mags to tell you about my experience with them, but the EMags an HK mags are flawless...

I don't know what you mean by "rock solid" - take a look at the DD promotion when they were tossing and bombing the living hell out of a regular M4 with RIS2. Throwning it and tossing it around do not seem to be able to break it, unless you intentionally jump of a chopper, loose your rope and land your 250lb body on top of it......

The 416 system is heavier than a regular AR - and they are using fat barrel because they want to make sure the pistol rod is aligned. It is also that the 416 was born for the reason people were not happy with the original M4 when they shoot alot of rounds within a very short time out of it. Part of the solution is to beef up the barrel.

And HK beefs up even more for the civie version - despite what alot of people hate to admit, a large segment of "black gun" buyers take the rifles from their cars, move to the bench and shoot groups. The difference between the IAR and the MR223 is like a couple ounces.

The truth is that the MR223 is heavier ~8.6 lb and your regular 16" mid length medium contour is about 7.5lb. It is still lighter than a Swiss Arms 17.8" LB + B&T rail by at least a 1 lb. No matter how you cut it, it should be a 8lb affair but you cannot change fact.

On the other hand, ff you are used to running around with a Swiss arms or a FN or other old school 308, it probably will not bother you too much.

The LAR mags do not fall out easily. They sometimes go when rotating the gun quickly for a mag change, otherwise they need a tug. I'm going to try polishing them up a bit to get them to fall easier.

I have not tried the newest batch of LAR mags (the grey ones). I'm hoping they are a little cleaner.

Emags work excellent. I recommend getting both Emags and LAR mags so you have a balance between an excellent mag and ones with 10 round capacity.
