Barrett REC7

All of the Barrett .50's and .416's are now prohib (At least all models I could find on the FRT). Was not always the case.

I'm sure you all already know but the REC7/M468 are restricted, 98/98B are non-restricted.

As far as I know, Barrett only exports the REC7 for LE/Mil... could be wrong though.

Yet another case of the RCMP lab making up rules it THINKS we should live by? All Barrett 50's are not prohib by name, No Barrett 416 is prohib by name, and therefore they are NOT prohib. I think it's time to end some careers and start over there's too much of this bullsh*t going on with these chumps. How about a huge letter writing campaign, naming names and demanding accountability. How much heat do you figure the government is willing to take to protect these closet Lieberals?

Nothing will happen unless we get a MAJORITY conservative government.

Even then, our best hope is to get the long gun registry canned, and ATT's for prohibs so people can shoot them again... Beyond that? there's not much that seems plausible at the time...

Last I checked the FRT (when I made the post), all of the Barrett 50's and 416's listed are prohib. I did not say they were prohib by name, just prohib.

Exactly my point - the only Barrett's that should be prohib are the ones listed by name, the 416 didn't exist at that time and many of the newer Barretts didn't exist either. The Barretts that are prohibited aren't prohib on any other grounds than 'named' - they aren't full auto, converted full auto, short enough to be restricted etc. etc. So how did they get prohibited? You might hate OIC's but at least the people who signed off on them were elected, and the OIC's had limits. Government by bureaucratic regulation is not in MY Canadian Constitution and has no place in any country that claims to be a democracy.

Rant off.

I'm assuming they classified them as variants. How the 99 is a variant, I don't know.

Agreed that the whole situation is snafu.

Sorry for the off topicness...

Lets say for example if Barrett would only import the REC7 for LE/Mil, could an officer import one on his own time to keep at home for practice or would it have to be through the department and only for at work.. if he's into that type of training..? any ideas

usually if its for LE purpose, the state departement will ask a form from the police departement asking for how weapon will be used. a single officer cannot do that.

my advise, get another 6.8 rifle
