Hi everyone,

My name is Brett. I recently immigrated to Ontario from South Africa with my family.

I've hunted for many years in South Africa, primarily plains game, and also spent a couple years doing sporting clays with a Perazzi. While I'm comfortable around firearms and hunting, I'm completely new to Canadian wildlife, seasons, regulations, and public-land hunting.

I've obtained my PAL, Outdoors Card, hunter accreditation, and small game licence (and a couple moose points!). I'm currently learning about Ontario hunting and am especially interested in deer, turkey, grouse, rabbit, waterfowl, and crossbow hunting.

I'm also in the process of selecting my first Canadian hunting shotgun, and have been researching the Beretta A400 series.

Looking forward to learning from the experienced members here and contributing where I can.

Cheers for now,
Brett

You might want to apply at Barrie Gun Club, for the clay shooting and rifle-sighting-in and many members who hunt and have a lot of experience with Canadian wildlife.

And Victory Ridge is the best local gun shop.

Hi Brett, welcome aboard! I used to hunt waterfowl quite a bit. Berettas and Benellis seem very popular. I currently have a Beretta 20 gua for upland. You may wish to consider a camo version in 12 gua if you’ll be using it for waterfowl and turkeys. I think there are several discussions of the A400 on the forums.

Thanks, appreciate the info.

Thank you! Yes, I'm settled on an A400 Xtreme in Max7. I love the additional watertech and resistance it provides. Very excited to get started!
