Barrie provincials - match comments + some results now too

Colt1911 Let me give you a free lesson in business. You can not pay some one and there comp with out that person paying there CPP and EI. If you are paying there comp you are there employer, this would mean you MUST pay the employer share of the CPP and EI. That would take care of any of the profit that the club could make. And yes a club needs to make a profit to stay alive.

You must be a member of a club. Go to the person running the ipsc part of you club and volunteer to put on matches. Thyis way you see it from both side. You never know you could come up with the idea that smooths everthing out.

If there is not any body running ipsc at you club go take the R/O corse and start ipsc at you club.

Memebership is not a right...it's a privelage...and everyone gets treated the same.

I'm all for suggestions to improve the process...but this "customer" attitude has to go...

I don't think I ever said I did not want to contribute, or be treated differently. Please read my previous posts. I patch as much or more than the next guy.

I have attended many an event and had to listen to the RO's ##### and moan about no help, I thought I would make some suggestions.

I'm trying to say in the "big picture" it would be best to attract many people to the sport. Throwing out the "customer attitude" will not help this happen.

It's called sub contract. It will also depend on hours and total wages. If they are under 18 it will also vary. Somehow I have been in business now for 20 years without your help.

I'm tired guys, I'll get back to making money. This posting on the internet stuff is well.... like "competing in the special olympics"

If you question my contribution IPSC, check with the Doc, he can tell you how I assisted IPSC during the Gun Ban nonsense. I don't deserve your attitude.

I will attend future IPSC matches being sure to present my humble registration form and monies, all the while being careful to keep my head down, to avoid eye contact with the organizers. I will be swift to patch and thank God for "the privelage" of shooting IPSC.

I understand you guys are friends. So I take your comments as such.

Storm I think you are one on the most progressive people in the this sport. I applaud everything you are doing. I wish more folks followed your example.

We're all on the same team here, but comments like the "customer attitude has got to go" and "it's a privealge" are elitist.

You attract alot of folks to your range, and it's not with the above mandate.

My son and I shot with you at the IDPA 3 gun, where we had a chance to chat. I thought you were a nice guy, I hope you felt the same.

Now as to Quiggs and I being FRIENDS!! LOL!

You should have seen the drag downs we had when he first arrived here.

The problem that he and I both share however is the LACK of volunteers. We put many hours ( that you kindly recognize) into this sport ( he far more that I) and to think that ANYONE would suggest that people requested to do the miniumum in terms of participation be paid. Well that is some what revolting.

Nope.........everyone is OK in my book. ( btw it was an IPSC 3 gun not IDPA.. :)

it is not elitist to expect EVERYONE to do the minimum amount of work.
Frankly patching is a great way to bring everyone down to the same level.

When I stated this game I was pleased as punch to patch with the GMs and Ms.....it gave me a chance to know them as "people" as well as shooters and is a great ice breaker.

I did,nt say that, It's said elitist to say "it's a privelage to shoot IPSC"

"Lack of volunteers" ......paying people, It may revolting but it gets things done.

It was the Galt 3 gun IDPA :)

well, to those complaining about Barrie, at least there was water for all shooters and no bullets zinging by your ears (remember Edmonton 3 years ago, haha?) so as bad as you think this match was, it could have been worse!

I guess I have hit a nerve by making suggestions, the smart ass comments seem to never cease.

My wife & I have for the past 11 years been involved in figure skating (talk about setting myself up for more smart ass comments) due to the fact my daughter competes. As many parents know these things take up a lot of time.

Today I am running my business, but also assisting others in acquiring 1,000 water bottles, food for the Judges for 3 days. Gift bags for hundreds of competitors and staff to man the check in tables for 3 three days. This is for an upcoming event Aug 11th-13th. I am the last person you need to tell how much work goes into an event.

We are volunteers as well. Do we get crap when we mess up or could have done better? Well yes. You have not lived till you have been chastised by a parent who thinks their kid is going to be the next world champion. Is our response we’re a volunteer organization, be thankful for the privilege to be involved? No, our goal is to help the sport grow.

We recently needed to accomplish a task which would require a lot of extra volunteer time, or we could pay $3,000.00 to have it done. We approached the competitor’s parents and gave them the choice. They chose to pay. When you broke it down it was very cheap per person to pay. Did this suddenly set precedent that everyone wanted paid? No, we continue to be a volunteer organization.

Omen the farthest thing from my mind was to create a nasty thread. I thought some suggestions might be entertained.

Oh, I just received a call that one of our group has acquired free make up for the kids gift bags, maybe I could you hook you guys up with them for the Nats. :)

Check out the fees for the DCRA target rifle championships on their site.

All the targets are marked by paid employees.

$1000+ for the match.

The sport is in trouble - no new shooters, etc... what a mystery.
