On our way into where our ground blind is set up, I spot a deer across the field. Closer inspection and it's a buck! We are about 700 yards out and the stalk begins. Hudson was revved up!
We are almost to where a clear shot can be taken from, but the buck is nowhere to be seen. Did it see us sneaking in? We set up and I begin to glass
A few minutes later I spot antlers poking out of the alfalfa. What a relief! Waiting for the buck to stand gave Hudson some time to settle down for a shot
After about five minutes, the buck is back on his feet and quartering away at a steep angle. He begins to feed and takes a few steps, now broadside at 200 yards. At the shot, the buck ran about 20 yards and stopped, Hudson was back on him and sent a second round. The buck was down within seconds and the emotions started flowing lol
