On our way into where our ground blind is set up, I spot a deer across the field. Closer inspection and it's a buck! We are about 700 yards out and the stalk begins. Hudson was revved up!

We are almost to where a clear shot can be taken from, but the buck is nowhere to be seen. Did it see us sneaking in? We set up and I begin to glass

A few minutes later I spot antlers poking out of the alfalfa. What a relief! Waiting for the buck to stand gave Hudson some time to settle down for a shot

After about five minutes, the buck is back on his feet and quartering away at a steep angle. He begins to feed and takes a few steps, now broadside at 200 yards. At the shot, the buck ran about 20 yards and stopped, Hudson was back on him and sent a second round. The buck was down within seconds and the emotions started flowing lol

I remember when my 2 boys were young learning how to hunt, probably the most exciting time of my life except when they were born.
Great job dad you have done a great job and your son did a fantastic job harvesting that mule deer buck. Congrats to both of you.

Good on both of you.

Hudson got a triple win out of that hunt,

First, he fulfilled his desire not to disappoint "DAD."

Second, he made a good shot, which means a clean, ethical kill.

Third, you both have a fantastic memory of a very important accomplishment that will last the rest of your lives.

You're a very wealthy man.

Wow, congratulations Hudson! And congratulations to Dad. Beautiful photographic record of an epic moment, thanks for making the time to share. Nothing better than kids experiencing the outdoors.
