Headed out around 8am and on my 2nd stand I set up in the shade of the trees bordering a small overgrown field. My FoxPro Fx3 was placed to the left of me 75 yards and to my front (10 o'clock), hanging in a small tree along a fenceline bordering two fields. I got sat down and rifle ready in my Steady Stix, turned on my Fx3 to SnowShoe distress. Wasnt a whole lot of volume, as it was barely loud enough to hear from my position. 20 seconds later I spot a running coyote on the far side of the field 200 yards away running hard from my right to left. It hits the corner of the field and turns and heads for the FoxPro running damn near full tilt. I mute the caller and 60 yards from where it was hanging in the tree, the coyote hit the brakes and tried to locate where the sound was coming from. He turned and looked back over his shoulder for a peek at 145 yards when my crosshairs settled on his chest, quartering towards, and I squeezed the trigger on my 223 Rem.

Three of four eggbeater spins and he was down for good. The whole ordeal from when I turned on my FoxPro to when the muzzle blasts echo died in the distance, was 45 seconds or less.

Stop It!!!

Man oh man, you really gotta stop posting all these pics!!
You're gonna make me go out and buy a Foxpro:D

I've read some reports on the Foxpro and was kind of sceptical until now.

I've called in a grand total of 3 coyotes with mouth calls this year and shot 1

Nice shooting!

Bartell kills again!

I expected a picture of an empty whiskey bottle... :p

Seriously, good shooting, Tod. I gotta get a set of those Steady Stix and one of those FoxPro's, too.

I take it that an electronic call?

I thought we weren;t allowed to use those... are they allowed iin the hunting regs?

Good shooting Tod

That is one big yote. What'd he weigh in at 30-35#'s?

didnt weigh him, but I might later today. My guess is close to 30 lbs (Im sure hes lost a bit of weight due to blood loss though)

about the FoxPro, yes it is an electronic call, remote operated with 32 sounds, excellent speakers, and yes it is legal for use in BC for coyotes, wolves, cougar, lynx, bobcat. This is the second winter it's been legal to use in BC.:)

the only mange Ive encountered this year was the wolf I shot in mid January

I think the pelts are still holding up, but Im sure in the weeks to come they will start to rub and shed

pelt prices - no clue, could be $40-70 for a good coat?
