base overhang breech?

I picked up some leupold 50021 std Rev. Rear bases to mount on my Winchester model 70 300wsm and when I put the base on with the windage adjustment to the rear I cannot operate the bolt because it is in the way. When I turn the base around it hangs into the breech. I don't have any ammunition yet and wouldn't be able to sleep without typing this up.

Whats it hurting? Most of my rifles have bases that hang over the ejection port, I do it on purpose to mount the scopes farther ahead. PRW or Weaver bases should fix you up if it bugs you.

You'd be doing yourself a favor by throwing that style of ring/base away anyway.

Don't ever consider a one piece base...

They can really overhang the ejection port.
