So I've been doing a lot of work in the father-in-law's basement. Years ago he had a top-end milsurp collection and I have been anxious to discover any remains. Here is what I have found so far.

A stripper clip full of .303 British dummy rounds. All DA marked, and dated from 1921-1923.

Could this be a stock from a Czech Mauser? There is no recess for the bolt handle. It is in excellent condition with "2449X" stamped on the left side of the butt. There are no markings on the stock disk.

And lastly, a toy rifle. Looks like it should resemble an M1917.

When i was about 8 my parents went to mexico and brought me back a toy rifle that looked alot like that.I will have to phone mom and ask her what happened to it. My brother and i had a lot of fun with that toy gun. Thanks for the memories.

The drill rounds are neat! Very seldom do you run into ones from the 1920s; most that you will find are from the Second War. Yours are in really decent shape, too, so don't wreck em by running them through a rifle too many times.

As far as the TraineRifle is concerned, I think the cocking-piece is a little closer to the M1903 Springfield than to the M1917. These are a very scarce item right now and could command a somewhat-shocking price in an antique shop. Be a nice centrepiece for a collection of US military rifles.

You are a Very Lucky Dude, dude! There's nothing like this in my basement, that's for sure.

Hope this helps a bit. Enjoy the toy(s)!

I have to disagree with the dates vs rarity. I picked up a batch of around 800 of these a couple years ago, and the bulk are in the early 1920s dates. Some were WW2 dated, and a smaller batch were WW1 dated.

Time for you to check out his main floor, upstairs and of course the attic where men like to hide their prized treasures & #### mags.

That is the plan!! There's gotta be more stuff!

It is too bad he doesnt have his collection anymore. He had some rare rifles, and some very scarce bayonets and fighting knives. I came along a little to late, otherwise I would have a Longbranch No4 MkI T, among other things!

Hey Sten.... you want to sell a clip of those cherry dummy rounds????

Really.... If you have 800 of them...geeez louise!!
