What type of base & rings would say are more secure in the sence that once installed theywon't move or loosen. Leupold std base & rings or weaver style base & rings?

Thanks
Marc

I've got a lot of both, but am moving away from the Leupold style. I know that they shouldn't loosen, but tires aren't supposed to go flat either. When they do, you don't have clue where you're at anymore. I Loc-tite the windage screws and tighten them far more than sense would indicate, which seems to fix it, but like I said I'm not buying anymore of them.
On a related note, I'm questioning the whole $30 rings on $1500 scopes thought process.

As far as the weaver setup goes, I'd skip the actual Weaver brand, and go with Burris XTB Steel bases and the Burris Signature Zee Rings. Solid setup and the rings have an insert to prevent scope damage...

Other than that, any setup from Talley would be a good choice...

One piece ring/bases would seem to be the best option in my mind as the only weak link is the screws that hold the base to the receiver or barrel. Loc Tite them and there is nothing to move. Talley seems to lead the way with these, at least in an affordable option.

I've used the Weaver style system in various forms for over 20yrs on all make/calibers of guns up to 375H&H [several] and never once had a problem. It's flexable, lightweight, functional, & cost effective. You can spend more, but you don't have to.

Using good rings is the key. Burris Zee rings are recommended. Those Leupold brand alloy ones work well. Weaver brand rings are not recommended as they will pinch a scope tube if too tight.
