basic issf questions

Hey guys, i have passed the pal/rpal course/exam before christmas. Results are not even in my mailbox yet, but that's a whole different discussion. I want to get your opinions on issf, i have recently starting taking interest into this.

I am 28 y.o., and starting to learn how to shoot pistols. I plan on going out once a week to the range on issf practice nights. For now, i got to shoot the club .22s, but when rpal comes in, i will buy myself a ''fun gun'' that i could learn the basics with. I would be interested in 9mm issf. So here are my questions.

*At 28 am i too late to get in the sport to compete 9mm issf ? (don't get me wrong i do not see myself in the very high end level, i'm just competetive by nature and would like to try it out here and there)

*Is there any material i could find online for 9mm issf events? I know how to google, but if ever you should have a very pertinent link it would help.

*I am looking at an HK usp expert 9mm as my 1st fun gun / getting into lower end issf pistol. Is it a bad choice? I know there are these real good issf ones out there in the 2500-3000$ range, but i have about 1200$ for pistol to get into the sport. So i wish to have a fun gun that can double as a starter gun for issf.

There is no 9mm in issf. .177, .22 lr and .32 long wadcutter

you could do centerfire in nra or idpa or ipsc with a 9mm

go over the issf rules as to what is allowed before you buy anything.

I was under the impression that they had a 9mm category. Here in Ottawa, at the ra center, on wednesday evening it's issf practice at the range. People are not allowed anything bigger than 9mm on that evening, that's why i tought there was 9mm events. I guess i could still get a 9mm and practice on that night, there is no lineup on wednesday.

Thanks for the response, i will leave it at that for the moment and i will be scouting the forums to see what type of events could interest me.
