Hey CGN'ers,
Wanted to share an event that provides shooters with affordable and effective rifle marksmanship instruction.

Project Mapleseed is an apolitical rifle marksmanship training program that focuses on teaching traditional rifle marksmanship from standing, sitting/kneeling, and prone positions in a one day shooting clinic termed a "Mapleseed". We are a non-profit, all volunteer run organization commited to helping Canadians develop fundamental marksmanship skills and in the safe handling of firearms

Although it is taught with rimfire rifles, the lessons and skills translate directly to centerfire and other firearms. It is also affordable. $40 for adults, $20 for Mil/LEO/EMS/Fire and $15 for youth 18 and under.

I attended today's Mapleseed in Saskatoon and it was well worth it. I was hoping to refresh some of my fundamentals which I certainly did as well I learned a lot. We started the day off with the "Mad Minute" target. The target sheet has five targets that simulate firing at 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 meters. You fire 3 rounds at each. At the end of the day we did this again and there was a dramatic improvement in my shooting. Instruction was excellent especially the demonstration for Natural Point of Aim. I have had this explained to me several times but didn't completely understand how to apply it. Their demo cleared that up.

They were well organized, registration was quick and efficient. Range was clearly laid out. Information was well presented and demos were well executed.

There are still spots on tomorrow's Mapleseed. Well worth attending if you can make it.
