Hi guys I have a coworker trying to establish the date of manufacture for a 12(7) inheritance. Does anyone have any information on a .380 semi auto with a 3 1/8th inch barrel. The only identification on it he could find was Basque. The serial number is 97151. I know it is not much to go on and I did tell him it would help if there was pictures and some proof marks but this is what we have for now. Any information on the pistol or any links to deetermining that magis 1946 date would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Jed

a guy on this site sell them for (I think)60 bucks a pop But I have seen them going (asking) for more.

Basque pistols....

Sorry to hi-jack..... but anyone own one that wants to chime in about whether they are any good or not?

I'm familiar with them. Externally and from a distance, they look nice. But very cheaply made. They were made by cottage industry type assembly in the Basque region with lots filing to fit. Magazines are made of zinc, and the mag catch hole wears quickly. To me, for a low price they're worth having, but as a self defence CCW gun obviously far from a top choice.

I don't know the years of manufacture, but they have not been made for a long while...this is only a guess, but I'd say the last were made in the 50's or 60's.

My Dad had one. It was the most obnoxious POS I've ever fired. The grip and trigger guard are designed in such a way that the trigger guard actually barks your finger every time you shoot it. It's lots of fun if you don't mind pain and bleeding:mad:
