Bass Pro in Calgary

I was curious if anyone knows about an opening day for Bass Pro in Calgary. Well, Iron Mills. It almost looks ready to open from the outside! I've never been in one of their stores and am looking forward to the oportunity.

I was told this year, than next year. To me, you would think they would want to be open by Christmas (Ooh I said it again ) to cover the start up costs.

Yeah, pre-Christmas is what I was thinking too. Although I likely won't be able to get within 3km of the place when it first opens!

Dunno about the size, but is called the Balzac Mega Mall.

Personally I've never even layed eyes on the place, I hate HWY 2, and I do not like going to the Calgary region that much.

Just relaying the apparent twist to their opening, from information provided from numerous sources which seem to indicate validation of the situation.

1.4 Million square feet! Plus a horse race track, hotel and a bunch of other stuff......mega is an apt description.

Mall is scheduled to be fully open in August 2009.

Actually around 140,000 sq feet

Over 5 million I think.......this one will be slightly larger than Chinook Centre from what I understand but when you add on the race track and such, the footprint is pretty impressive.

Don't get your hopes up too high .... that way you won't be overly disappointed.

So far the "Canadian" version falls shy of the American by a fair margin ...
and way short of Cabela's. But, I guess if you're a Bass fisherman .....

last i heard, from the Ontario office is a man named Giles is going to be manager. they had been asked to delay opening till November 09, but told the developer they would have to open in June.
They could be ready sooner if the roads are done.

Ya, Giles Fisher......late March or early April was last word I got from Toronto.

Yup, no bass gear in Calgary....they have been doing their market research carefully.

People might refer to it as the Balzac Mega Mall, but its actual name is "Cross Iron Mills". Read the massive sign out front as you drive by.

Had a meeting with the guys from Bass Pro this week and it is confirmed for March 2009 to open!!!!!
