Good grief, the Brits were sending clandestine firearms to the Nowegian resistance within a week after the Germans invaded.
I don't doubt that the British supplied arms to the Norwegian resistance. However, I'm not questioning the supplying of arms to the resistance. Norgwegian regulars leaving their barracks, and carrying SMLEs, marching past the Germans the day they (the Germans) landed is questionable. The naval battles had yet to occur at this point, never mind the landings and subsequent battles for control of the town and port. I think it was just a matter of expedience for the film makers in the knowledge that most viewers wouldn't notice or know the difference.
