Really??had 2 t97 shot tav got 0 t97 got tavor- superior in every way--workmanship -ergonomics -reliability--made by a country that knows its weapons--just my opinion but not everyone can swing 3 k into a rifle so i wont be belligerent and say the other is crap--for the money it does the fun factor job but for all out proven rifle tav is my choice-thanks

I vote T97. With the setups now I have zero ergonomic issues any more.

Also both of those im in for $2850

2 guns for the price of a Tavor with a trigger

Oh hell yeah. $2k for the .223 version and $2250 for the .308 version. That might be my first bullpup (i've always wanted a .308 bullpup)

****Tavor****
Detachable barrel.
100% Ambidextrous thus making the use by right or left handed shooters easy.
Has true “OTB” (over-the beach) capability and can be safely fired after being submerged in water and not completely dry.
Integrated folding back-up sights that include tritium for night.
Very easy field stripping into 2 parts.
All the metal parts of the weapon are corrosion resistant.

LOVE MY TAVOR

There is this old guy at my club says he would never buy Norinco Garbage, but I have seen some Norc's that are just as good as all the other Chinese manufactured American labeled garbage out there. I think the days of calling

Chinese stuff Garbage are coming to the same demise as the old adage plastic garbage from the '70's.

The Chinese have stole a lot of our manufacturing practices and in some cases improved on them, the modern day Norc is a far cry from the Norc's of old

Have you seen the latest M305's? They are utter garbage. I can't tell you how many I have fixed in the past 6 months not to mention parts missing from the factory (safety spring missing on 6 or 8).

Newbie gun owner here. Just going by what i've heard on the interwebz and word of mouth, i would have to go with the Tavor mainly because of the ergonomics (i've heard that the T97 is not very lefty-friendly (and yes i am a southpaw)).

Safety is awkard in general but probably best for right handed people.
Ironically, mag release is probably easier to use for lefties

Both are good firearms. But tavor is optics friendly out the box. The t97 isn't unless you get the FTU installed.

For a range warrior, I think the T97 is great value for the money. Is the Tavor twice the gun as the T97? For plinking, I don't think so.

I'd love to have both, especially the Tavor, but I can barely afford the T97. However, the keyword is 'barely,' so I think that's where I'm headed. I used my buddy's plenty of times, and though I found it a little awkwardly-balanced at first, I got used to it pretty fast.

Type 97 for me.

for all those that says the mag release is hard to use, have you ever tried using your RIGHT HAND for mag release? - thumb on mag release style, pretty easy for me. Takes some re-training but once that's down, it becomes pretty simple.
Also really hoping they will release the 97-1 improve model soon. Mag release to rear/bottom of the mag-well and safety is the same location as the T97.ca LHG's position.

I tried using right hand, but it's difficult to push it back in without a countering force for those mags that are hard to fit.

This works, right hand operation, you just have to get over other training of not taking your strong hand off fire control. I was going to put my charging handle for the FTU on the right hand side, but figured that eventually a new release would be developed to be accessible ambi or from the left.
