BATTLE OF THE BULLPUPS with Jerry Miculek

Wow... that was a long vid. Shoulda clicked the short version...

In all fairness I think Jerry was just getting better with repetition for the shooting tests. I also noticed he fumbled alot of facts on Tavor related stuff. No biggie to the average guy unless they are taking his word for granted.

I wish I could get an aug.

P.S. on the short, surreder sticks on the FAMAS nearly had me in tears from laughter

I like how he had no problems or complaints with the trigger on the Tavor yet everyone on here feels the need to upgrade it to a $400 unit. Granted that if it was his own rifle I'm sure he would change it but just shows that with practice and some shooter skill the trigger isn't slowing you down or causing you to miss the target.
He also didn't need a brake or compensator on any of them to drop 6 shots on target in less than a second.

If you like your Tavor save your money for ammo and practice more, the upgraded trigger doesn't seem to be needed if you spend more time behind the gun.

Training and practice will always trump gear, but a more consistent trigger is a benefit. Lets not forget that the Tavor like any service rifle was designed for shooting large living targets, not winning competitions..

Type 97 would have won

That is one of the funniest posts I have seen in a long time!!!

Good review, I love my FS2000.

Wish I could have an AUG,

and will likely look seriously at a Tavor in the future.... but... I am not as impressed by it.

It is nice to see someone that has not a lot of experience with the specific platforms do the review, that way he isn't explaining why the one he has is better than the others.

Interesting that he picked the Tavor, when he shot better with the AUG.

I think he should have mixed the order up since he kept getting better times after he warmed up.

In my experience the Tavor had better ergonomics and a slightly better trigger. But, the AUG had a better balance, i liked the quick change barrel, and was slighty more accurate for me. They're both great rifles and i've owned both. Couldn't keep both so kept the AUG since I've wanted once since the early 90's. I'd definitely get another Tavor as soon as I can afford it.

The quick change barrel on the Aug is of no real use. If you change lengths/barrels you're going to need to re zero anyway so what's the benefit?

Relax tavor guys. He said he needed to warm up. I know your upset the tavor didn't win each discipline but don't worry we heard hi, say it 6 times we don't need everyone to repeat it.

Great video

That is why we have optic mount with repeatable zero. Pair up the barrel with the optic, and switch out both as a pair.

In the Australian Army, to clear a weapon the barrel has to be removed for inspection each time and every time the weapon is handled. The change in POI must be minimal enough it is considered to be acceptable by the ADF. An AUG probably has the barrel attached and reattached hundreds of times a year.

I have not noticed any shift in poi after removing and reinstalling a barrel. In the AUG manual, removing the barrel is a step in the cleaning process. I just got a 9mm conversion kit for my AUG, so the quick change barrel makes converting calibers a breeze.

There's no need to change barrels to begin with. Removal for inspection is understandable but reinstalling the same barrel should have minimal shift. Keep in mind it is a service rifle and acceptable accuracy is what is desired, not precision level.

If you're gonna change barrels and optics you're gaining nothing over having a second top like an ar user.

The quick change feature is nice to have and not necessary to use. I really like the modularity of the AUG. As long as you have a reciever, you can switch barrel lengths, different color stocks, 9mm conversion, and Nato stock for ar15 magazines. There are guys out there who have built up an AUG with just a bare receiver. I'm trying to piece together a lmg AUG with the 24inch barrel and bipod.

Wish the powers that be would let me shoot my AUG. I have had the barrel out of it countless times and noticed no change in the zero. It loved that Ruag GP90 fodder. managed many 5 shot groups of 1.5" at 100, with the ring and dot optic and crappy trigger.

Auggie D.

I personally like the AUG better, but the TAVOR is available.

Better trigger, low bore axis ( almost like an AR), less unnecessary bulk, more compact and therefore easier to shoot well and accurately. The downside is that AUG cannot be submerged in water.

The TAVOR seems to be a more mechanically reliable system, but the ergonomic of the system is like an XL with lots of unnecessary bulk. The bore axis is high which is a big problem in close range. I can see the reason why the IDF is switching to the X95.

The FS2000 is a nice gun to shoot, but it can be rendered completely inoperable by stoppages that require complete disassembling to correct the issues. I am not too hot with airsoftish 2 piece clam shell bolts+nuts plastic construction either.

Yes, I will go out and buy an AUG if I can, and when X95 becomes available.
