Same here. Colt Anaconda rubber grips went away.
Badger Custom Grips Bocote went on.
Much much better.
Here’s my favourite grips. I think it’s just the combination of the size and feel that’s a perfect fit for me.
I actually had this exact same pair of K frame hogues that I put on an n-frame VCOMP and they made all the difference for me.
I've got those K frame grips on all my S&W M19s and M66 RB snubs. Great grips!
As for the 4" barrel of the Python being an issue, the only guns I own that are NOT 4" or less are 1911s, my Colt OMT and my S&W Pro-Shop 686-6. Accuracy with all of them is great, barrel length notwithstanding.

Is not unlike the factory rosewood grips on round butt DX Classic 629 circa 1993ish.
Ya the factory roundbutt combats are very nice to look at and fetch a pretty hefty dollar if you have some kicking around. I do like the feel of the hogues better though as they are narrower, contoured to your hand and you can get them checkered for a better grip. Although the hogues are nice I do like the looks of the Smith and Wesson factory grips better.

I thought I’d find them too small but man do they ever feel nice!

I have never cared for the colt grips, but I don't shoot a lot with them, just 38 sp as a rule
All the early ones I had where 4 in guns. The 357 had a edge to the last python I had, I don't think it had been tuned, looked factory.
Seemed to have less stacking.
Best double action was a Dan Wesson I had, that had some polish done.
I shoot model 19-2 way more as I have all the kit for it, and if I put a mark on it, it will blend in with the rest, a 14 6 in is right up there , it is factory set up.
For some reason, I shoot a better group DA over SA. with these.

I think it was an intelligent idea of S&W going with medium length ejector rod on your nice J frame five inch.
I have on occassion shot a friend's snubby 357.
Getting those magnum empties to clear the cylinder with that short ejector rod could be downright painful!
Being a reloader I’ve never noticed the lack of ejector length on the Colts vs S&W’s. I usually take them out in pairs and put them back in the reloading box they came out of.
