I only did the BI class today. M1 Garand. The AR is in parts being upgraded.
I didn't do too well on the kneeling string, but not too bad on the standing.

Well, since i have my M-14 coming pretty soon and i just discovered about battle rifle matches, i think i've found exactly what i was looking for since there doesn't seem to be any battle rifle matches in Quebec ...

Thanks Brobee !!! :)

Since i get back "in-country" november 23rd, i'll do my best to shoot it and submit it in time ! :- )

Well, on the last day of October I manage to get to the range to shoot my October targets. Trick and treat.

The treat. Fired my wife's AR first. I still love it. If I were an infantryman in close combat I would take this rifle any day. Rapid reaquire, light weight, dead on accurate. Four sighting shots on an NRA 100 yard high power target. I assumed that the rifle would fire high at that short a range so aimed really low on the first two. Imagine my surprise when the bullets hit right where I had pointed the rifle. Two more to double check and good to go on the match.

Now for the trick. Same deal with my M-14. Two sighting shots. Fires high and about 2 inches right. Ok, I can deal with that. One click of the sight and two more sighting shots. About 1.25 inches right. OK, two more clicks and because I am a lazy so and so who doesn't currently own a spotting scope and can't see holes in targets at 25 yards on a dim evening, I decide that that will be good enough and I will shoot my targets.

The good news is that the grouping was great. Five sets of two shots each from an offhand position and I got them all in pretty much the same area. The bad news is that I should have walked down range and checked my last two sighting shots. Every shot just off to the right. One click probably would have done it. I had no targets left (important note, take spares) and it was getting dark so no opportunity to drive home and print a new set.

Oh well, maybe this will be my worst score drop.

Either way however, I have to say that this match was the most fun I have had at the range in a long time. There wasn't anyone there to see my shooting big fat rifles on the 25 yard range, hopping from knee to feet and firing like a madman but I sure wish that there had been. It would have been fun explaining the principle behind this month's match.

Thanks very much for putting this on, looking forward to getting out for the November shoot, hopefully a little earlier.

Got out to shoot the Novembre match!!!

Hello all

Got out yesterday for some good natured competition. The 50 yard distance and the smaller target zone made it challenging. I put six shots in the target zone with my Norinco M-305 with a 10X Super Sniper scope. Wendell got four hits with one just missing the fine edge of the target zone; with his Mini 14 with a EOTEC sight.

Wendell recruited a new shooter named the Texan. He fired Wendell's Mini 14, with no hits in the target zones. Considering it wasn't his rifle, he did get three hits on the mortar crewmen and two in the white of the paper.

The Texan's son deserve's some mention as he got Three shots in the target zone; again using Wendell's Eotec equipped Mini 14.

As always, a good day of shooting with good friends.

Our thanks to Brobee for the idea of the postal shoot.

Good shooting to all.:):D:rolleyes::):D

October match results posted at http://www.eclecticworks.ca. Thank you all for your participation...I hope you had fun!

Hopefully I'll have the December match description ready to post sometime late this week or early next week....

Re: November shoot: After thinking puting 8/8 into scoring zones on my test drive last month, I went into thinking this month's match was too easy. I got out to shoot (with my M14S) at the beginning of November and got SPANKED HARD! I used up all three of my target sets and the best I could muster was ~10 scoring points (target at home....will confirm and possibly correct this evening)...*whew*

Good luck and good shooting!

This is the best idea ever. Thanks Brobee.

I'm still working on gettin a battlefield rifle. Can I shoot these matches with 22's. I'd just use a Norinco Jw15A with a scope and a Marlin 80 DL. Definitely not sniper rigs.

Nice shooting Rifleshot! And with my favourite WWII rifle.
Haven't shot the Nov match yet Brobee but it looks challenging. Good luck to all.

Yes, congratulations, Rifleshot! Some really nice shooting!
As usual, it was lot of fun participating in this match.
I have to agree about November's match. I think it's going to humble alot of shooters including myself. :p

December match description and targets have been uploaded at http://www.eclecticworks.ca. Good luck folks!

DaveF: By all means download and shoot that rimefire to your hearts content....feel free to post photos here too however in the spirit of fairness I should keep scoring spots for folks shooting centerfire rifles. If you have your "battlerifle" by March you'll be able to shoot it start to finish on the OBL match #2! (I'm working on targets and match descriptions as I write this....:)...it will be alot of fun!)

Good luck and good shooting....

November Targets

Here are my November offerings. I won't get any marksman trophies for this month but it's still one hell of a fun way to spend an afternoon at the shooting range. The first target is from my M14 and the second one is from the SKS I just picked up (thanks Outcast). I even tried to take a picture of myself at the range but couldn't figure out how to use the timer on the camera so I did the "drunk teenager pose" (hold camera at arms length and smile). Hope it's enough for the bonus point; I could really use it this month.
Thanks again Brobee for starting this up.

Thanks !

Oh, thanks very much for the congrats ! :) (I've been away from the site celebrating). Actually I just shot November's and the target's are painful to look at, will submit them shortly.
Thanks again for setting this all up, it's great for those of us out in the boonies who can't readily visit a range for some face to face competition.
Looking forward to some more shooting. See ya !

Hello all...

The wife and I are enjoying getting out together to shoot our matches....the only problem is that more and more I find myself breaking out in a cold sweat at the thought of my wife beating me! She definately gave me a run for my money this month........

I was surprise how hard I found this month's match, and I was equally surprised that I shot it better with my iron sighted PE90 than I did with my 2x magnified aimpoint on my M14S.

We can hardly wait for it to be december so we can get out and shoot again together.....:) I'm also excited to see everyone else found November as humbling as I did!

Good luck and good shooting to you all!

Well, I missed the November match and am just now posting my October results  Hope to find the time to get out and do the December match:)

Nice shooting beltfed!

Ok everyone....I'm about to compile the November results and noticed that participation has dropped SIGNIFICANTLY from previous months. Is it because November was a busy busy month for everyone or was it that the match was too hard and people are worried about their scores? Let me know as it will influence the course of fire for future matches.

And anyone who has shot the match but not submitted scores (ie: rifleshot), please send me your e-mails!

edited to add: folks I have November scores for:

Beltfed (x2)
Sine Wave
TROD36
fwm
Spanky
Brobee (x2)
Old Ranger

Good luck and good shooting....

Brobee
