Battle rifle ''showdown''

i totally get that the m14 isn't for everyone and it isn't the "greatest rifle in the world" but the guys who ran that test , starting in video 1, let thier disdain for the m14 show and it continued thru the whole series of videos. Thier decision to choose , and offer to thier shooters, a traditional stocked, 22" barrelled standard flash hider unit when other options sharing similar characteristics in ergonomics with the pistol gripped rifles it was stacked up against are clearly availlable and extremely popular with todays M14 enthusiast.
it's a cool set of videos but the bias against the m14/m1a was very clear and the reason they loaded it out like they did.

They're comparing standard battle rifle setups. Not race guns. Also most of the rifles in the tests used flash hiders.

i bet the socomII version would have changed things a little bit.
i miss my old socomII, one of the only guns i regret selling. my wife could shoot 8 inch steel at 300 yards through the irons it came with, no problem. she used to drive the old fudds nuts at hunting time. they'd be zeroing their scopes and missing, she'd be gonging all day long lol.

I keep hearing that the scar-17 is really over rated

Sad to see the m14 come in so last but it is a enhanced ww2 battle rifle. Its old school tacticool and ill always love the platform for what it is.

I've heard a bunch of SEALs complain about the SCAR Heavy. It had some real reliability issues in combat. SEALs were actually first to get them in Afghanistan. They short-circuited the normal testing because being SEALs they can basically get whatever they want. The funny thing about it is that the Taliban were used to them having M4s and so at 500-600 yards, they'd just stand out in the open and shuffle around a bit knowing the M4 couldn't reach out that far given the conditions out there. Then they got the SCAR and started dropping the Taliban like flies. It surprised them. But ya, reliability issues in actual combat. They ended up not being huge fans.Still a cool rifle but overpriced given that it's not 100% reliable.
