Great video thanks. I thought it was interesting that the mp5 recoil springs only last 1000 rounds or so and that the receiver gets destroyed during normal use. The scar16 going 200,000 rounds with only a couple standard parts replaced is mind blowing, and a semiautomatic m249 is something straight from my dreams.

These guys have a unique perspective with round counts of different platforms due to the sheer number of rounds, Great video, it confirms my confidence in Glock and Sig. I was also surprised the Rock Island 1911's were slightly more durable than the more expensive brands.

Haven't watched the video (link not working) but I have read some of these reports on M4 Carbine. I can tell you that MP5 recoil springs last much more than a 1000 rounds. I never changed one after a 1000 rounds and the guns ran and ran, sometimes into 10 000's of rounds plus with no issues what-so-ever. Very reliable weapon system. And I'm sure the receiver's go, but some users are well over 100 000 rounds with out receiver failure.

Glock Armorer's school teaches to change the Glock recoil spring at 3000 rounds. Who has a Glock that they have shot beyond 3000 rounds on the same recoil spring without a problem?

Yeah also remember they are not using HK parts for either hk416 or hkmp5. But a combinations of other manufactures mixed in. The mp5 seems to be all variants like zenith not sure how much is actually MP5.

If IIRC from the video, the extractor spring went on the MP5, the real validation from the video IMO is that the HK of all the piston platforms had the same reliability as the DI guns.

Yeah. But it is easier to clean, and for armorers that is a big plus.

Also to keep in mind the info given is hardly scientific and glossed over with generalities, and a lot of clues are glossed over without consideration.

Either way. Lots of good info is given but we already new most of this.

Wow, that place has gotten a lot busier since I first went there. Granted I went about a week after they had first opened and they didn't have half of what they do now. I'd love to go back it was my favorite part of Vegas.

I couldn't believe the how folks rave over the MP5. Fun to shoot once, but I have never been terribly impressed with them. I am sure they are fantastic at what they are, but I just didn't like the ergos.

My wife and I had a fantastic time at Battlefield
They needed a cart to bring what I picked into the firing bays
Staff there were top notch too
Would highly recommend the place

I'd love to see them get a KAC SR-15 to rent out there and see how long it lasts before requiring parts.

Ballistic Radio already ran 30,000 rounds through an SR-15 without issue. But I wonder how many more thousands of rounds it would take before they had a failure.

Neat video, certainly a great place to visit if you go to Vegas.

^ nothing like going full auto. in Vegas, good times a plenty. One of my fondest memories was having 30+Rds. leave the MP5 all before the first round of brass had hit the ground, now that's fun.

It should be on everyone's bucket list, especially with so many choices in firearms to shoot.

Cheers D

My understanding is that the UMP replaced it and is superior, no looking back on the MP5.

UMP is a great weapon but not superior to the MP5 and failed the FBI testing so was never adopted. MP5's last longer and the issues with the plastic lower of the UMP wearing with contact with internal springs is not present.
Extractor springs are about the only thing that breaks on the MP5 and funny thing is the weapon still functions for thousands of rounds with broken extractor springs due to the fluted barrel.
The trigger pull with all steel parts on the MP5 is also superior to the UMP, which has a mushy plastic trigger feel. I've never heard of anyone who has shot a UMP and MP5 side by side and preferred the UMP.

Funny thing is there are people out there that prefer Ford Pinto's to Mercedes but just because you like one better does not mean your choice is better!

Wow I still see defenders of the DI everywhere I go:

CAG = HK416
DEVGRU = HK416
FBI HRT = HK416
ATF SRT = HK416

The list goes on and on world wide. Those who can choose anything they want choose HK416.
I love the DI guns and own them but the HK 416 is simply superior.
Instead of defending the DI, why not honour the design by admitting that one of the greatest designs in the world was just improved and made even better!
