And there are dozens of other SOF that use DI without issue.
Both have advantages and disadvantages. No single design is superior in every way compared to the other.
Sure there are dozens of SOF using DI, like I said I love my DI's.....but often for those SOF it is not easy to move to a superior system when you have a perfectly good one.
The top tier SOF that have the large budget's and flexibility to choose exactly what they want....and do not have to answer to another command or supply chain or other red tape of procurements....but get kit when they want it are choosing HK 416.
True there are advantages and disadvantages to every system, a Ford Focus has cheaper parts that are more available in North America than a Mercedes......but to those who can work around some of those issues choose the Mercedes.

Well except they wouldn't have had any Colt Canada AR products down south, so similar reliability to the rest perhaps, but not the best DI system.
Good points made Rich, however not sure if all teams that can have what they want are choosing HK 416. Regardless there does not yet seem to be one rifle system superior to all others in every situation or exercise, this at least cannot yet be stated from any one platform.
These military units that can choose whatever they want still must comply with certain military standards or minimum requirements that they may not actually truly need or want due to certain factors or simply because that performance is simple not yet available for any number of reasons... i.e.: better accuracy may be lost to reliability or lighter weight to greater durability as two basic examples.

An unmodified HK416 won't the USMC IAR contract, against heavy barrelled and open bolt Colt DI and FN SCAR. It was a proper trial, and the winner was not the cheapest.
The domestic consumer market cannot really leverage this to make more sales, because only HK makes 416. I won't even mention Todd Bailey's titan. 99.99% of the consumer market sale and manufacturing capacity is DI, so the marketing machine has all the reasons to keep on marching with the DI guns because really, that is the only thing available to sell and to buy. No point of promoting something with little supply. Consumers cannot buy ( and sales people cannot sell )HK416, so it is easier to defend what they can have, and hearing what they have (and can have) is superior to what they cannot have goes with their built-in bias . They in turn promote it even more to make sure the value of what they have cannot be diminished. It is to their advantage to diminish the value of what they cannot have, and raise the value of what they have and can have!
On the other hand, people are buying Sig P226, Glock and 1911 because the military bought them. The marketing machine actually has incentive to promote them even more because there is a capacity to supply the demand. With HK, there is no incentive.
